Were Longbows traditionally backed and if so with what? Linen? Silk?

What is a good book you would recommend on building historical style longbows?

Thank you - really enjoyed you miniature bow how did it shoot? The 18" one?

Do you know how ling they make me fill out seven questions to post? I;m color blind and these
