I got my HHB Ironwood bow shooting last night. She still needs to get fancied up and cleaned up maybe a little tiller yet but she shoots real nice. Seems really fast and smooth. Bottom limb had natural reflex Pearl helped me put some more reflex in top limb at Marshall. 64" n-n didn't really didn't get weight yet I'm guessing around 59 @ 25" that's my draw and the weight is perfect for me. I got some snake skins but I might shoot her naked for awhile I like the 4 knots bulging out of top limb. Like to get some cow horn for tip overlays got some connections should be able to find some. As you can see I'm outstanding in my field. Those are Navy bean's probably end up in a Bush's Bean can.

Looks good BJ! I will have to remember to buy Bush' beans so I can support your farm.
-
Looks good!
-
Well, if I find fletching in my can of beans, I will know why....and WHO!
If I had enough coffee in me to be awake, I would be coming up with some name for your bow that includes beans, gas, or some such. But it's already hot here and coffee has lost its appeal. I will just tell ya there ain't nothing wrong with yer bow, nekkid or not!
-
Thanks guys and don't forget to eat you beans
-
Nice looking bow BJ. I avoid beans for obvious reasons.
-
Nice BeanBow right there, tiller looking good 😊
I really look forward to see the finished results .
-
Guess this means there's good chance the hhb stave I got from you will make a fine bow. It's all up to me now!
Looks good, bj.
-
Thanks guys Clint I was going to grant you an exemption from the beans. Knoll I think your gonna like it, I sure hope so.i
-
Dang it! Now I want to work on the HHB stave I got from you too! ...but I have others that have been waiting for my oh so limited attention span longer. Yours looks real nice BJ. Soon HHB. ...very soon!

Probably have to let the ones you guys got from me cure for awhile they where just cut about a week before Marshall. I started roughing one out for my daughter in law today probably take it to a heavy floor tiller over next week or so and then let it sit a good while. Think you'll like it sure hope so.

ooks really good. Gooluck with it.

Thanks guys the pictures aren't the greatest my brother took them and he must not have wanted to get his shoes dirty. Thought you guys might like that old farmer joke.
-
He could've went a little closer, a little dirt on the shoes won't kill anybody 😂
-
Good looking bend bjrogg. Now I imagine the bark pops right off HHB just like hickory when cut in the spring or summer.
-
Yes it does Ed but I harvested this stave in Feb roughed it out to floor tiller and let it sit till now. Had to remove bark and cambium
-
Well I like that too.The camouflage look suits me too.
-
That bow looks good BJ, nice work. I'll be starting one from the HHB I got from you sometime in the future. I have it setting out where I can see it at the shop thinking about what I may want to make from it. And I always have a few cans of Bush's beans in the cupboard.
-
Thanks badly I got a couple 100 arrows through her now. I'm REALLY happy with her. She's fast smooth and looks good naked too. Just like those girls my momma always told me not to go out with. Lol. Glad to here you got beans in the cupboard you guy's can eat the black ones to we grow them to.
-
A lot of people (myself included) were working with HHB (or leaving with some) at Marshall this year. It'll be cool to see how many nice Ironwood bows come out of that one event!
-
Very nice job, I love HHB.

Thanks Naked Feet, and Pappy. I do really like this bow. I'm pretty busy right now still haven't done anything but shoot her, but sure have enjoyed that. I did rough one out to a heavy floor tiler for my daughter in law I'm going to call it "peachy" because whenever you ask her how's it going, her reply is always " just peachy"
-
Congratulations, good looking bow! (Its always Bush's with our BBQ).
-
Thanks Hrothgar. My wife doctors those beans up a little with her own secret recipe. Not sure of amounts but know she puts in Ketchup up, and bacon and let them cook in turkey toaster awhile. The more time they cool down and get reheated the better they are. Might have to see if I can get her to post recipe on cooking forum.

good lookin bend bj.
-
Thank you Stixnstones probably need to finish her up and get some more pictures
-
Sorry this took so long. I finished up this bow last summer. I never did get it posted. It's way overdue.
I put one prairie rattler on that I got from Scott at Marshall. I'm to frugal to use two so I cut one in half. I put bloodwood tip overlays on. Some stain left over from my kitchen and 5 coats of truoil. I still love shooting this bows. It has had countless amount of arrows cycled through her. I hunted hard with her last fall. She has become one of my special bows. I got my first Primitive Bow white tail, a 4 point buck with her last fall October 13,2017. She even has a little blood speckled on her that I sealed on with truoil.I call her the "bean queen" because I first posted her standing in my navy bean field last summer. Pictures at long last. Thanks for looking

That is a special bow bjrogg.Spot on tiller yet too.Very cool you got all those connections with it.Beautiful looking queen too I might add.Skins look great for being so frugal yet.You would'nt know it at all.
-
Thanks Ed, she really deserved to get a little more attention by now, but I guess I got to tell her whole story this way.

BJ, that's a beautiful bow! Love the skins and that full draw look looks absolutely spot on. Looks like the weather there is better than by me. A huge windstorm left 120,000 homes without power (mine included) and they estimate it won't be back on for at least another week! (W Anyway, she's a beaut and keep um' coming!
P.S. We love Bush's Baked Beans. Eat um at least once a week!
-
Thanks upstate, sure glad you like the bow and the beans. Yea we had some crazy wind 2 days ago. Wow it was strong and lasted forever. It knocked down a lot of trees. I can't believe we lucked out and kept our power. Electric companies have been taking down dead ash trees for a couple years so that really helps. It's cold and windy here again but not as windy as the other day. Hope you get your electric back soon

Glad you guys still have juice. It's no fun making bows in the dark. Luckily my bro-in-law brought by a little 2000 watt generator for us today to keep the furnace going. On the bright side a HUGE linden tree brought down a smaller sugar maple. The thing is impeccably straight and will yield dozens of staves, not to mention firewood. ;)
-
Very nice looking bow.
-
That's the spirit Upstate, always a silver lining there somewhere.
Thanks selfbow Joe. I really liked this one from the first time I shoot it.
