Title: point
Post by: crooketarrow on April 23, 2016, 08:56:44 pm
I've made about 20 points about 1/2 to 3/4 finished. Today I finished the first one and broke one ofcorse. It was already a broken tip point. It almost made a point twice.

That's just the first of a life time of broken points. I broke two today. It's the ones that survive that make you proud. Hang in there.

I need to go break some more stone. Broke 2-3 arrowheads the other day doing stupid stuff like bopping from the end without proper support, thinning the middle before the ends, and using a bopper when it was pressure time. Addicting though.

Congrats ;)

My favorite mistake is when I'm eyeing my platform locations (rotating the point) and I drop the point on the floor and snap the tip off.

So we have all been there.  If you are having trouble breaking points thy these tips.
1. Sharpen your flaker's tip.
2. use a non flexing pad( rock, wood, thick rubber) most people use leather early on as a pad, but you have to learn where to place the point on your hand before you get good results.
