Title: Question on Books
Post by: Spotted Dog on April 08, 2016, 10:00:44 am
Where can I find books that give dimensions on Plains Indian bows and arrows ?
I want to do more correct bows of the culture.

Dog, Jim Hamm and Steve Alaley(sp) Encyclopedia of Bows, Arrows and Quivers. He has one book of Eastern and one of Western and Plains.

I second what Pat said it is a great book  but not all dimensions are there but gives you a pretty good view to take a guess , it's a book of few words with lots of illustrations, being a fan of American Indian bows I find my self picking it up 2 to 3 times a week !

Unfortunately, Hamm and Allely's vol.2 (the one with the Western bows) is out of production. You can buy an electronic version for $10 but it is not like having the real book in your hand.

Good luck!
