Making the knappin down there and was wondering if I'll be seeing anyone from on here? Me and my buddy are making final plans(which flavor of donuts and chips to bring mostly) and will hopefully be heading down on the 20th. Gonna be hitting up the dacite pits south of Riley too! Didn't do that last time even though I drove right by. Hope to see some of you there!
-
I'm 99% on board, so I hope to see you there.
-
You guys have fun and LOAD UP!!
-
Thats great, take lots of pics, and get as much as possible.
-
I will be there 19th to the 23rd or so. I am hoping for good weather. It will be my 18th one, I think.
-
My buddy just told me he has some college stuff to do on the 21st(my birthday, what a jerk) so it looks like we'll be leaving on the 22nd. Hope I see both of you there!
-
I so wish I could! All the goings on have outdone my finances!
-
Is that the knapping put on by pugent sound knappers?
-
No redhand, this one is not put on by anyone. It just happens on its own!
-
I like how the PSK got around the BLM rules on that one. Genius.
-
Thanks aaron I was curious. I have an uncle that lives in Bend he is an excellent Knapper. He always attends the Glass Buttes knapp-in with PSK.
-
Just for the record, this event Way predates the PSK and is not organized by them. It has been going for almost 40 years. It was started by Jimm Riggs and others. Local people from burns organize the porta potties and firewood.
-
have fun while your down there bro!
-
If anyone sees Keenan Howard tell him hello from his PA family.
-
See you there

Hope everyone's having fun down there! My truck broke down. Mechanic can get me in in a week or so. What I'm trying for is using my parents suburban. Hopefully I'll make it or I'll be down after everyone's left! Haha

We arrived at 10:30pm on Wednesday, dug all day Thursday, went to the Dacite pits on Friday and my buddy wasn't wanting to stay later so we left at 1:30pm Friday and made it home this morning at midnight 30. The 2 pictures I took were of Silver sheen and the view from the top of the little butte. Yes that is all mohagany obsidian to my left and in the road. Also it's a super steep road haha. The top of the mountain is visibly darker due to all the obsidian. We got silver sheen, mohagany, gold sheen, 1 piece of fire, Dacite, and black butter. Awesome trip even if it was only 3 days. The camp hosts were awesome and showed us to the silver sheen and provided some good stories and tips at camp. I'll take some pictures of my stock pile later on. Some of these pieces we dug up were huge! Dug a tunnel 3 feet into a pit going under ground another 3-4 to get the biggest chunk of mohagany I'd seen.

Sounds like a great trip! Glad you made it after rough start.

I do want to go back there some time.
