I just finished up this vine maple bow. It's just under 63" long and 45 lbs @ 25". The skins are broad banded water snakes and really pop on the white wood. The tip overlays are big horn sheep from Chuck. The bow has some humps and bumps. The reflex isn't even. The top limb deflexes out of the fade and then reflexes in the outer third. I think it makes the full draw look a little funky. The bottom limb has a little bit of twist to it with a slight deflex kink at the tip. I made this for a target bow for myself. It's been more than 2.5 years since I made a bow to keep.

Looks great Clint. That bugger is WHITE on the belly.
-
Awesome job all around Clint. I love the skins with those sheep horn tips, great combo on the vine maple.
-
That's a beauty, looks very good to me from what looks like a challenging stave. :) Them skins turned out very nice. :)
Pappy

That finished up loverly pal....i think you can let go of that osage crutch now! ;)
-
Those skins and the bow look amazing. Great job on that bow!
-
Nice albino osage you have there. Really, after the first photo, the second side shot where you can really see the white is really a surprise! It looks great.
-
Great lookin bow, the f/d looks awesome. The skins the white all around good looker.

You did a beautiful job on that one. I like it a lot!
-
Great job. I like the snake skin on the white belly looks very sharp.
-
Gorgeous bow man...nicely done! The contrast really makes it pop!
-
Great bow man those skins really do pop.
-
Looking at your outfit, I must say the bow is way more elegant than the builder!! 8)
Fine bow, clint, hope you don't mind.
And I like the shorts/shoe/hat combo.
-
Nice to see this bow all finished up Clint, I remember you scraping on it at Marshall.
How did you find the wood? Was there many grain swirls? Great job bud
-
nice work on that one Clint, turned out sweet!
-
Nothing wrong with that tiller Clint.Nice bow good looking bow.
-
Great job Clint, those skins are killer
-
Thanks guys.
Simson, I don't mind. I dress for comfort not style
Goat, It didn't have any grain swirls. It did have a few knots, humps, and dips in it. Officer Seabass gave me the stave a few years ago in a trade.
Gutshot, I'll bring it to moontree.
-
Man that is well nice! :)
-
Turned out great...Clint

Very nicely done, picture perfect!it doesn't look like you heat treated the belly?it holds a good bit of reflex indeed!
-
That's a dandy, Clint, especially with that knarly piece of VM.
-
Very nice 8) 8)
-
Looks real nice outlaw man. Hope to see it up close this spring when you give it the steel barrel penetration test at Marshall.
-
Nice looking bow. The skins really do pop on that white.
-
Nice job Clint. It looks really nice.
-
Awesome skins on a well bent bow. Still have to find a way to put some osage in the picture though huh?
-
Nice looking bow Clint. Looking forward to seeing it at Marshall.

I heat tempered it at marshall. I scraped away all of the darkened wood during the final tillering.

I can't help it with any woods pictures. I wanted to make the arrow shelf out of osage but I resisted the urge and used leather.
-
Real nice Clint I second the steel barrel test
-
It will get the steel barrel test for sure. For you guys that were at Marshall last year you might remember the bow is the one I used to lock Blackhawk in the port-a-let. He tried his best to break it getting out. He actually put a few reflex cracks in it.

Now that's funny
-
Sweet bow, Clint! I love those skins. Gotta love the prerequisite vine maple tiller disclaimers. I'm working on a vine maple right now that's going to need lots of disclamers. Are you going to change your user name after this? I guess vine maple outlaw doesn't have quite the same ring. ;)
-
Wow! Thank you for not staining or doing anything to take any of the true white out of that wood. The contrast with those skins is perfect!
-
I'm keeping my name Weylin. It's still my favorite.
Chuck, I thought about staining it but I have stained the other white wood bows that I've made. I kind of wanted one with a natural color.
-
great job on the handle.
-
Good bow,the tiller looks good to me considering the stave.
I like the white colour, never saw a white bow before..might try one ( made a blue bow once) ...is that paint?
the toilet stuff is weird tho
-
That's the natural color of the stave. No paint.
Trapping a Blackhawk in a port-a-let isn't very easy.
-
Fine looking bow Clint. how does it shoot?
-
It shoots very smooth Howard
-
Wow! That really came out nice! Josh
-
You did a great job holding the profile on that bow. Vine maple can be a little like hickory and start taking set. Excellent job!
-
Thanks guys.
-
very nice, well done

Great looking bow! Strange looking snake skins. What type? Probably a snake not in the deep south. Is the white painted or bleached? Great mix with the colors.

The skins are broad banded water snakes from Texas. The color of the wood is natural vine maple. I didn't use any bleach or dye on it. I made it for a target bow so I didn't mind the bright color.
-
Great looking bow! What a color combo. I love seeing these vine maple bows. Vine maple is a bear to work with, but it sure is a gorgeous wood.

-
Wow that is a beautiful bow. Love the snakeskins on the white wood.
-
Utterly awesome! :D
