I recently finished this bow up for somebody. Its from some dense red osage that I cut a few years ago. The grain lines really show up in it. The back is mostly concave and has some slight humps and bumps down the entire length. There is a small knot hole in it. This bow seemed to fight me all the way through the build. It's 66" long and 50@28". It is finished with 6 coats of tung oil. The tip overlays are bighorn sheep.

-
Great looking bow. You did an awesome job on those humps.
-
Beautiful bow. I love that classic profile, it's simple and effective. Gotta love that red wood too. I got a couple red staves that should be about seasoned now. Keep up the good work.
-
Looks like you won the battle! The grain is very cool looking.
-
Clint, that's a looker. The fat osage looks great and your tillering is outstanding.
Makes me freezing seeing you with shorts in the snow ...

When your turkeys grow antlers and back straps I'll head north.
-
Great job Clint. That's some cool looking osage
-
Good looking bow Clint!
-
wonderful bow! I've got a question for you on your finish, i use tung oil a lot on other projects, i wipe it on let it set for about 10 minutes then wipe it off with a lint free cloth. With your glossy finish, do wipe it on and leave it to dry without wiping off? It beautiful, thanks, Dan.
-
I used the low gloss tung oil. I put a very thin coat of it on with a cosmetic wedge and let it dry. I can get 2 coats per day on it.
-
Thanks guys.

Stranger things have happened!

Nice work sir, that stove must b keepin ya nice and warm in the shop. The cold has been keepin me out of the shop.
-
That's a nice dense piece of osage there, and the earlywood/latewood ratio is fantastic. It should make a good hunting bow.
I like your attention to detail. The handle lacings are tight and even. The limbs flow into the horn tips. The reflexed tips are reflexed just enough but not too much.
Very well done.
-
Thanks for the compliments everyone.
-
Good looking Bow.
Was the red osage harder to work?
But Are you standing in the snow with shorts?
OMG. Tougher than me ::)
I'm a tropical boy. Ahhh North Queensland, heat, humidity, cyclones and crocodiles
-
Well done Outlaw. Arvin
-
I love the red stuff. Great work my friend. Those pics make me cold just looking at them.

It worked about the same as normal osage. Maybe just a touch harder.

-
Thanks guys!
-
Very nice
-
Great job Clint.
-
I love the red stuff, got a super sweet stave curing. That turned out beautifully, Clint.
-
Nice looking bow. Never have seen any red Osage.
-
That finish is superb. Do you prefer the pure 100% Tung oil, or do you go with something like Formsby's which has other stuff in it? The latter is all I've used, and it makes a nice finish, but I'm wondering if the pure stuff might do a better job, and I'd definitely trust your opinion. Thanks! Beautiful, beautiful bow.
-
Thank you. I used the Formby's tung oil. I apply it with a cosmetic wedge.
