Title: NC Rhyolite

Went after some Rhyolite Beast Rock today. Usually carry out the big pieces and break them later but decided to spall out what I could. Seems like a better way ;D

Actually some of that looks like nice stuff. I've seen some rhyolite that was very close to chert in knappability and I've seen some that was indeed like concrete. Nice haul!

Yes, there are definitely different grades/knap-a-bility to them. The coveted green variety reminds me of knapping novaculite.
