My new shooting bag of bark tanned deer. Still drying from a dye bath. The small one for flints the larger for tools.
Hand sewn with waxed linen thread.
The strap is adjustable with antler buttons. Has a pan brush and vent pick too.

Cool.!!!! That'll work just fine.Perfect.

Very cool!
-
Nice! That looks really supple.
-
Way cool ! Bob
-
Like the looks of it.
-
Thanks guys. It is going to work out good. You can wear it on either side because of the way I madeit.
Call it my Ozark bag, Going to go with my iron mounted .54 caliber flinter.
-
By iron mount you mean the furniture on it?the sights?I shoot a 54 cal.Johnathon Browning Hawken but it's a capper. It's my big game rifle.....lol.
-
It has hand forged furniture. Open iron sights too. It's a copy of a Joseph Bogel gun from the 1790s.
A good Southern rifle. Curly maple stock. I burnished the wood with a deer leg bone,
-
Very nice,
Is the bag as soft and supple as it looks?
Thanks Zuma
-
Yea curly maple is niiiice.Mines got a few dings, scratches, etc.Used it a lot.Bought it in 1980.
-
I have to resoften a bit after the dye bath, but yes it is real nice leather.
-
Spotted dog....Did you use the quebraco bark tan powder?I've done it both ways.Quebraco and oak bark. The oak bark tannin extraction is a bit more work and time but the same results happen.
-
I did not tan the hide. I wish I could tell you I did. A man in Texas tans 2-300 at a time for a man I know.
