It was a nice cool morning here in Kansas (finally!). I went out about 6:15 AM or so. I made a mock scrape with doe estrus in front of my stand and settled in for the sunrise. When it got pretty light a couple of does came from the north above me on a ridge, and kept right of truckin'. I rattled a few times about a half hour later, and the same two does came back down the trail, heading back north. They were about 20 yards away and I sized them up. They were the same size so I decided to take the first one. She stopped in her tracks directly in front on me and put her nose to the scrape. That's when the arrow flew and now venison is back on the menu. I got my workout dragging her up a 45 degree hill, out of that river bottom area (Sidewinder knows what I'm talking about). The bow is a 58# osage with cedar arrows. Thanks for looking and good luck hunting this season.

Outstanding! Congratulations. I have come to prefer morning hunts - tracking is easier and you have all day to do everything that needs doing after the kill. Looks like good eating.

Congrats on your fine doe. I sympathize with you about long drags up and out of a creek bottom. Good job. God Bless
