If it were here in Kentucky, I'd say it looks a bit like young mulberry.....
DBar
-
Kinda looks like tulip poplar to me Liriodendron tulipifera, where are you bub?
-
Doesn't look very maple like with those growth rings and large heartwood in a small trunk.
-
Not to sure Bub, but all the Douglas maple I've cut has had no brown heartwood
-
Looks a heck of a lot like mulberry to me, except the bark is a bit different than the ones we have around here.
-
I'd say it looks like poplar as well. I don't think the bark is right for mulberry but have been wrong before.
-
I've got a half dozen Doug maple drying, all about that size and they are all white as snow.
-
It's not mulberry i know that it is some kind of maple I'll have to drill him on it just haven't seen him he's pretty well read on his plant id
-
Hard to say without leaves.
-
Im almost positive its a chinese sumac

Could be pawlonia, I've never cut one, but the bark on young trees looks like that, and can grow really fast.
