Title: Another tree ID
Post by: ccase39 on October 29, 2015, 04:12:20 pm
It appears to be another white tree. Starting to think I have a forest of Gum trees around. Anyone got a guess?

Looks like black willow, although willow oak has a similar leaf and bark. Any acorns around the base? Was it growing near a river?

Didn't see acorns but it was near some lowlands. Not a river but drainage canal. It's canopy was high at the top with few branches until the top.

Probably black willow, an oak would tend to have leaflets in clumps.

Willow. The oak may have similar single leaves but the arrangement is different.

Is there a bow in it?

Willow is a poor bow wood, but it is possible to make a bow from it. I wouldn't recommend it though.
