Been out of this for sometime and forgot several things  :'( :'(

I wanna shorten the limbs on my new Osage flatbow to gain some weight, ...what is the weight gain per inch again ?

You can "try before you buy" by binding the string tight down onto the limb say 1" down from the nock and seeing what it weighs!

Here is the exact formula, presented by Mike form Boarrior Bows.
I have tested the formula on one of my hazel stave bows and it was spot on.

I second Del's method, which can also be used to make small adjustments on tiller.

The amount the weight changes will vary with bow style, length and geometry, too.  Taking two inches total off a 50" bow is proportionally a lot more than taking two off a 72" bow, so expect a bigger jump in draw weight, with accompanying increased set stacking, and/or breakage.
