Title: Hollow in limb
Post by: stuckinthemud on September 03, 2015, 05:30:14 pm
Hi All,
How do I deal with a dip in the back of a limb, and is it better to have it in the upper or lower limb? The hollow runs 1/3 the length of the bow starting a few inches from a tip, extending from the centre line to the edge. Will post pictures later

Upper limb and it probably doesn't require any special treatment.

I agree with PatM

Usually when the back dips the belly should mirror what the back does. If it is shallow, it may not matter. Photos would help. Jawge

I usually go for fairly flat belled bows but if the limb is hollowed I go with a more rounded belly to keep the limb thickness in that area. :)

OK so here's a pic of the hollow, bow will hopefully be compass bend long bow, oval or D cross-section

as noted at the beginning, the dip doesn't extend the full width of the limb, only to the centre-line.
