I've had some people ask me how to make and/or if I have ever written an article on these bows in the past so I decided a few weeks ago to make another and write an article for PA on the build, because of that I won't give away too many details. The bow is Maple backed Yew 53" long that pulls 45# @ 28". I didn't finish it for awhile cause I couldn't decide whether to make it a right or left hand bow, I decided on left. It was fun to build

P.S. I'm actually pulling it close to 29" in the full draw

Real nice Marc. Your squeezing it all out.
-
That looks tasty!!! :D
-
Love it! Your signature on there looks pretty cool, too.
-
You make it look so easy Mark, I bet that bow would do ok in flight shooting.
-
That is a slick bow. If I ever run into you I would love to shoot it. Since I'm a lefty too. Great job
-
Thanks guys. It does shoot real good but there is a bit of finger pinch, not too bad though
I had the same thought Steve as I was tillering it out to 25"
-
Oh yea, that's a beauty right there
-
I love that design, great job Marc. Looking forward to the article.
-
It makes me a little jealous and a lot motivated to see you busting out such ridiculously good work! All your bows come out top notch but this really pushes the limits for a proper hunting bow.
That is just flat out stellar tillering. I'm struggling to express how badly I envy the gentleman who will get to call that bow his own.
-
That's awesome.
-
Wow. I bow down to your skill. A true master.
-
Real nice Marc. I like the length and profile is killer.
-
Thanks again guys.
I guess you will be envious of me then Ben :)
The article is fairly comprehensive so those that are interested in making one of these will have to read it
-
Wow, now that sucker is working. Very nice.
-
Bang on, FD super nice Chuck
-
Nice bow Marc. Do you make your own maple backing strips?
-
Thanks guys
Yes from tree to strips Eric. I pick out only the best staves to make my backings from, I'm quite picky about which tree I cut as well
-
That's such a cool bow. Looking forward to reading the article.
-
Awesome bow as usual!
-
That is quite a bow. Definetly above my paygrade at this point.
-
Beautiful bow Marc, very nice work as usual. Bet it is smooth and a screamer. :)

Wow... that's all I got... wow :o.

that's a real beauty sir! The brace pic made me think of an Egyptian bow.
-
Thanks guys
I was thinking of pulling my chrono out and testing it
-
Oh yea, I would love to see numbers on that one Marc!
-
WOW!
-
yes please test,, very nice, thanks for sharing,,
-
would enjoy close up of splice... is the backing spliced too? I've noticed you like to leave the bow limbs pretty stiff coming out of fade and at the tips also... bow looks like a speed demon...sweet..gut
-
Thanks guys
I weighed the arrows I was using the other day and they were just over 500 grains and that works out to a bit more than 11 GPP. Those were coming out of the bow quite fast. I'll try and get some chrono results in the next few days.
-
As a lefty that has been looking for a sub 55" bow - I can take it off your hands if you get bored of it Marc :)
-
Beautiful bow, Marc! Jawge
-
Wow! That's a looker, Marc. I'd sure like to shoot that one, bet it will really send an arrow down range.
-
Another thing of beauty!
-
I gotta admit, Marc, I basically learned to make recurves years ago by copying (as best I could) your bows you posted in pics like this. I remember specifically one I just pored over and tried to imagine how it worked during every stage of the draw, every stage of construction........ and I can still barely do it.
I have had great success with 58-64" recurves, but have settled on my style being high deflex, like yours, but less reflex, and larger recurves instead. When I deflex it that far, then reflex it like you do, I just mess up the tiller and end up with a 32# bow.
-
Thanks guys
I'll let you know if I get tired of it bubbles.
I could have gotten more draw weight out of this bow but I have quite a few bows with a draw weight of 50 ~ 60 lbs and hardly any sub 50# bows. This bow is perfect for Deer hunting in tight spots
-
I finally got around to testing this bow. Performance is good but not spectacular. I was using just under 11 GPP arrows and getting mid 160 fps, granted I can't do a snap release shooting left hand. It shoots about as hard as a 55# ALB I made
-
thanks Marc,, great info :)
-
I am in love. Can't wait for the issue to come out and do this build
-
28" draw at 53" bowlength!! You know to get the most out of it!
What about making chronos at 25" with very light arrows? Forget that 10ggp, you can easily convert it. Look here: http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/reply/475130/10-grains-per-pound#reply-475130
I love this bow!

Man that thing is sweet Mark. Your bows are the most recognizable. I love the straight limbs at brace.
-
Dream bow!!!
-
Thanks guys. Not the fastest bow I've made but it sure shoots good
I have shot the bow with 550 grain arrows and they come out of the bow at a pretty good pace as well
