I have the chance to pick up some petrified wood for $.40 a pound. Has anyone tried any from Utah? Thanks!

Petrified wood is petrified wood, but some is agatized and some opalized, agatized i cook opalized is soft like, you guessed it opal and you don't cook, I've made points from both but you have to be gentle with the opalized

Its the price I can't pass up. I have been finding pretty decent stuff. One in particular has been awesome. It flakes like a dream. Problem is I am pretty bad at this. >:D. I posted a photo to help identify what it is. Bub you saw the good stuff on Facebook. The new stuff looked just like it on the outside, but is just about black on the inside with pale orange bands. The black is very crystalized. I'll cook some and see what happens. Its just to brittle and grainy raw. The stone is wet as it rained hard here today. Top side is the new stuff, bottom side is the good stuff.
