Told a member I'd make him up a bow, and his specs were 45# @ 25". I know that bendies are not for everybody so thought I'd try a short mollegabet....this is the first attempt.
Dead Ironwood, 1-3/8" average limb width, 50/50 layout and just at 45# at the 25" draw length. The stave had some propeller twist which makes it look somewhat odd from side to side so I'm having braced and un-braced from both sides. Also there is a knott/hump at the lower limb grip fade which makes it look defelexed at the fades so I took 2 diff full draw pics the first one is with the arrow pass at 1-1/2" above center and the second one at just under 1" above center.
Anyway better or worse this is how she turned out, does shoot very well though.

That ironwood looks like it can handle some pretty high stress designs. I've always wanted to try a molle.. Ironwood might be the ticket
-
nice to see you making molly's again Rich, look's good

If I keep looking at these sooner or later I'll want to attempt a mollie myself, which scares me because the design is so different that for me it may be like re-learning how to make a bow. :)
Nice work getting a bow out of that dead standing hhb Rich, has to be durable stuff to do that. Two more bows to finish first and then I'll be working that ironwood you sent me.

M&B, bubby, Thanks for the nice words
B2....I wouldn't trade all the molly's in the world for one of yours....with your skill-set it'll be a piece of cake.

Rich,
I'm kinda with Greg, it would be a first if I tried and definitely out of the norm...Maybe the next one you do you could post some steps/build along for us...I have one of your mollegabets and it would be a head start for me anyway as a visual guide...I know There's some fellas on here that would appreciate it...

Here's a 106 (yes, one hundred and six) image album of a build-along I posted primarily for reddit. It doesn't show tillering as well as I'd like and I have a better album for ring chasing if you'd like but this should give you the basic idea of setting up a molle.
I changed from "about a third" to ten inches for my lever, that's about all I do differently now.

Yeah Rich another nice one, I know it will make the new owner happy. And yes the humble twisted staves could make the side profiles look diffrent from right or left side. Good thing is you took both pics! Keep em coming, your posts are a must for me.

Thank so much Simon, I look forward to your posts as well, sir.
