Messed around today with trying to photograph both faces of a point as well as the edge and then put them together into one image. The point was pretty thick and irregular so it "helped" with creating the image I was after.

Nice photo. Nice point.

I've got some work for you to do.

Awesome

Wow! Nice. You've GOT to teach us that!

This looks as good as Pete Bostrom's stuff.

Very Nice, excellent detail. Bob

Thanks for the compliments. I will post some pics this evening on how i did it. Im also working on sharing how i take them and how to do it with less expensive gear like a cell phone or digital camera.
Pete Bostrom is still beyond what i am doing. He uses large format and medium format film to create a triple exposure.
Steve i got my work schedule switched so i will be down the begining of august and at letchworth.

Very nice! I look forward to the iPhone tutorial.

Sweet !!!

Well done.
I like the symmetry you created by slightly
tipping the front and back faces. Oh and the
shadows show off the edge flaking.
Did you mean to do that?

The lighting was intentional I wanted to make the flake scar pattern show up better. A more uniform light, like a cloudy day would of sufficed in photographing the point but it would have turned out pretty 2 dimensional. I do like a cloudy day though for taking pictures of points it really hides mistakes in the flake scar pattern >:D
The edge view used the same lighting setup that I used for the faces. Im interested in photographing a much thinner point where the blade is slightly curved across the piece. The broad point below is super thin but had a slight curve to it which may make it appear thicker on an edge view. I do not own that piece (wish I did) but I do have a novaculite blade I will try it with.
