Real ummm...'rustic' looking. Haha. ::) Would be a Cumberland if I wasn't such a wuss. That crystal seam was pain in the rear. Free hand antler fluted.

Very nice. I would be very happy with that. Now I just need to stop breaking them. :o

Very cool 8)
Is Mill Creek the style or material?

Nice work...hand fluting is difficult. I have looked at a lot of fluted points recently and noticed the originals often ran a little sideways most likely from striking a little off center or angled, further indicating they were hand fluted rather than put in a jig of some kind..just my opinion.
You got long straight flutes...well done!

Thanks guys. It was the perfect candidate for one since it a was an old thick clunky leaf shaped preform. Really do wish I could go back in time and hit it twice as quick now.
Zuma, the material is Mill Creek chert.
nc, ya for sure. I did this one with a flat rock with folded leather over it on my left leg, pressed it hard against it with my left hand and swung with my right. I really need to dress this billet, also I wish I had something with me to tie the stone to my leg, since I want it more on the side of my leg than I could really get it. I had many annoying attempts to get that 'right feel' on the second flute cuz the stone wanted to slip. But, I really don't see how jigs and such would have been needed by them. I don't consider myself very good or practiced at fluting and I knocked these off easy.

That is one nice "authentic" looking point. And the flake looks like it stayed in one piece. Love the look.

Great point I love the shot of the flute flake. Nice work
-
Nice flutes! That does look original.
-
Nice.
-
Haha. Thanks guys!

Nice work! Despite your humility, hand fluting is not as simple as you lead on. This is a great demonstration of your knapping instincts taking over. Only comes with tonnage. 8)

Haha...tonnage is something I've never had! Illinois is not a great state for picking up free stone, haha. My rock stash usually fits into two 5 gal buckets sadly lol. I really appreciate the kind words.

Very nice ABO work.
