Hi Guys,
Here is another bow I just finished. This was spliced handled ELB......but alas the splice failed and it returned to the wall....Until last week!
I cut the limbs down, planed of the sapwood and got a new flat surface, then remarked and cut a new splice and glued her up. I then used dry heat to bend in some recurve, prepared a hickory core and pole bamboo back. I really like this recipe. And glued her up with a little more reflex than i used on the last recurve. Bow has come out exceptionaly well, and is an excellent shooter. I think I have found my new target/3D bow.
45 @ 28", 64"NtN. hickory and buff horn splayed overlays with hickory riser highlight.

Great bow! beautiful woodsmanship!

Another beauty Mick, I really like the shape of that one, and those tip overlays are gawjeous

Beautiful work and a nice save indeed. I agree that braced profile is killer and nothing shabby about the look at full draw either, that grouping of arrows in the target proves that.
-
Very well done. I too love to overlays.

Great looking bow, what does the grip say on it?
-
The grip says "milleni". It is a brand of Italian hand bag.
I go to thrift shops and buy the old, and sometimes newish leather handbags. I then un pick them for the leather. Italian brand bags seem to always have great quality leather.
The leather is soft and supple but very strong and is perfect for grips and tabs.........
Cheap as chips and your recycling!!!!!
Thanks for the kind words too, everyone.
Cheers, Mick.
