II polish flight tournament soon. It is traditional flight style competition. In this year come to us many good archers with champion Jozsef Monus wit 4 person hungary team and we will see best traditional bows - primitive and synthetic. We all shoot together, synthetic string in primitive bows is allowed. I will shoot in 70 lb class with my turkish hornbow - 70 lb at 25 1/2 " .

Good to hear this Lukasz
Have fun all !!

I wish I could shoot with all of you. Poland is a long way from Portland, Oregon USA.
What kind of divisions do you have? Is it only divided between modern materials bows and primitive/natural materials bows? What weight divisions are there? 70-lb and unlimited?
Are there any restrictions on the arrows? Can primitive bows shoot modern arrows?
How many arrows is each archer allowed to shoot?
Jozsef Monus is a lot of fun to shoot with. I look forward to have him shoot with us again at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the US.
Your bow is beautiful! I wish you the best.

Keep us posted! Good luck!

Alan, we have no divide between natural/primitive and synthetic bows in this year. Natural bows can use synthetic bowstring and all bows must use arrows from natural materials. Modern arrows are not allowed. I think in this way chances are almost equal. We have 4 draw weight classes 35 , 50 , 70 , unlimited. In tournament each archer can use 1 or 2 bows. when you have 2 bows - you have 6 arrows ( 3 arrows on bow) when you have 1 bow - you can shoot 5 arrows. We have about 40 archers in this year.

stellar bow, Lukasz.
All the best for your meeting!

It looks like you guys had a great time. You all got some nice shots off as well. Each time you hold a shoot you will see the results continue to improve.
-
Good job folks !
-
I really like how you organized and reported the results. I think it works very well to simply report some details about what each archer shot as opposed to having a large number of rigidly defined equipment divisions. Good job by all.

unoficial world records in modern asiatic woman 35 lb and modern asiatic man 50 lb :)

The 35-lb and 50-lb shots using Modern Asiatic type bows are very good shots, especially due to the natural material requirements for the arrows. We require feather fletching but allow carbon arrow shafts for the same bow type.
Current official record Men 50# Modern Asiatic 309m is held by Larry Hatfield, shooting one of Jozsef Monus' bows.
Jozsef unofficially exceeded the standing record by 58m with his 367m distance. I'm sure he will do it again this September at Bonneville.
Current official record Women 35# Modern Asiatic 202m is held by Carla McAnulty-Lueck.
Danuta unofficially exceeded the standing record by 51m with her 253m distance.
Perhaps you should consider expanding your event for world record status in the future? It wouldn't require much more than a calibrated scale and steel tape.

that surely looked like a whole lotta fun!
What struck me in the pics is picture 90: look at the grain violation on the back of that bow! If I'm not mistaken, that's hickory (and a broken arrow)?
thanks for sharing :)

Black locust, very good results on selfbow - 288 metres 58 lb

Looks like one of Adam Karpowicz's bows was competing in the >70# class.
-
yes. Adam bows are truely work of art.
