Title: Norway Maple Progress - No pics yet
Post by: snedeker on January 29, 2008, 06:06:54 pm
I have a straight flat longbow with rigid handle almost done.  Looks like Norway maple is a pretty good bow wood.  This piece, however, is very resistant to heat bending.  Good hard, tough wood though.

Dave, I thought Norway maple was soft maple? I know the silver maple is the soft maple, I make bows from it but they are like paddle bows, going to have to try and find some norway maple, I hear that is good for arrows as well. Steve

I think Norway maple is kinda of a medium hard maple, like red maple.

I would say its a little lighter than sugar maple but heavier than red.
