I found a box of USA made Nicholsons on Craigslist for dirt cheap

Yep it is nice. I have a farriers supply store about 15 minutes away from my house. They are almost to sharp. Lol

They sure are some are so sharp you get little slices in your fingers just checking them out

I just got a Nicholson 49 from my Grandpas tools. I haven't used it, but it is nice to have something that was his.

Dave (DVSHunter) turned me onto the local equinine tools/supplies vendor.  His rasp selection looks just like Bub's photo.  I mentally thank Dave every time I pick up my rasp.

Yep,especially with the save edge.They are the only brand i buy,in the last 20 yrs.

Use the course side to hog off then smooth it with the other then hit it with the scraper is how i do it

If you know some one with horses ask if their farrier can get you one. They get the best quality. My Farrier gave me one that was almost new, but I we have been friend a long time. I bought my house from her.

Now make a wooden box for it so it stays sharp. Watch where you set it down. Don't throw it on to a pile of wrenches :D

Or a piece of fire hose,has worked well for me.
