Title: Freshly roughed out Black Locust
Post by: bow101 on February 07, 2015, 07:44:31 pm
I have this BL sapling 68" long that I floor tillered today, it has been sitting for 3 months with bark on.  Just wondering if I should make that big knot you see in the photo as top limb or bottom.  Just sealed it up and will leave it for another 3-4 months inside the house.

I try to make the top limb the one that has the most character. Don't know why ??? ???

Guess its nice to have the character on top.   :)
The black line is about 4" from the knot (center line).  so either way its the same.  I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see how the tiller pans out.  Anyone else make any BL sapling bows that turned out successful..?

center string alignment looks a little offset.
if you dont plan to heat correct, top/bottom limb is a forced choice
