Hey all, here's a. New 66" ttt,60#@ 27 elm.1-3/16ths @ the handle to skinny tips.horse hide wrap.rosewood rest, king wood tips, finished with red and black rit dye with a couple coats of poly and is a pleasure to shoot.have about a hundred shots thru her (pretty darn cold) thanks for looking!
-
Few more.
-
That's a real pretty bend. Sweet!
-
Very nice tiller and a great profile on that bow! I like it.
-
How thick are the limbs? You got about twice the weight out of that width that I have ever gotten. Did the stave have a lot of reflex? Did you toast the belly?
Jim
-
Yes Jim, the stave had a good bit of natural reflex, medium heat treating and a hair under 3/4" thick for the limbs.ii was going more for kinda d section with a slightly convex belly.i weighed it on a digital luggage scale. The draw feels the part.

I bet it hits hard at 60#. Cool looking bow.
-
Nice work, I like it.

Very nice.

Great job. :)
-
Nice one, I really like the finish work
-
Beautiful elm bow. Very appealing lines. The dark stain is rich looking and still shows the nice feathering of the grain on the belly. Do you have a close up of the back at mid limb? Oppps! I see the pic of the back. Thanks.
-
Worth braving the cold to shoot a bow like that! Great job! :D
-
Very nice bow. Markus

I'm with Asharrow. I hate wide handles, admittedly, but I would have had to go 2" longer, stiffened the handle, and added at least 3/8" width to get that weight out of a similar limb design.
Don't you love how elm (except for red elm) basically looks like nothing special, until you slap that dye on,a and suddenly, "Oooooooo, that's pretty!"
-
Reread. My original post,i meant 1-3/8 @ the handle and the bow is 1-1/8" at the midlimb, hope that makes more sense.Rob
-
That's a great looking bow. Well done.
-
Very nice looking bow and I'm sure it shoots quite well

Very nice bend and I like the coloring.

Beautiful tiller and brace. Well done
-
I really like that one. Elm has such a pretty grain to it, especially with that nice finish you have applied.
-
Thanks folks!i appreciate it!
-
Dang bushboy! You and that elm seem to be real good friends! Another beauty sir, I really like the tip contrast with the dye job.
-
Great job on a beautiful bow, and exzactly my kind of a bow, perfect everything. Enjoy
-
Very nice bow!
-
Great bow. Im impressed by the poundage, the width, and that it isnt a full bendy handle. At that width and weight i would have expected a D bow. Great job!
-
Thx's again guys! :)!it weighed in @ 18.3oz with the handle wrap on.i think a couple of things contribute to the high draw weight.one, the limbs are very rectangular with a very slight rounding of the corners.also I cut this wood in very early spring when the leaves just fully matured in a nutrient full swampy estuary, the wood had an intense sweet smell when I heated treated it.these are my speculations.the bow was closer to 70lbs when I first brought it to brace,so I scraped it a bit to a more reasonable weight.i suspect it may lose a bit more weight after a few hundred more shots.thx's rob!
-
Sorry I meant 19.3oz,i messed up numbers again!lol!
-
That handle is not my thing, hope you don't mind.
But that bow is gorgeous, great excecution all around.
-
