More photos to follow, just thought I would post something year end and going into the New Year with hopefully a successful bow. :) 3 peice Maple 64" 16" maple riser with yew accent. Currently applying the backing.
-
Looking forward to watching this.
-
Yep I want to see more also.

Still have finishing to do and much tweaking. Tiller check critique, thanks for looking........ Shot over 40 arrows thru it it shoots very good. Poundage maybe around 36-38. Backed with 2 layers of black linen.

Looks good bow!nice job!
-
Looks good! I've got some OS offcuts for heavier limbs for you.
-
nice work man!
-
Thanks guys, Don I think I'll keep with the lam/maple configuration on this type. ....Another bow possibly. :)

What hardware are you using to fix the limbs to the riser?
Could you please post a pic of that?

Glad to help. For starters I have to give credit where credit is due and that is Bubby. His bow build inspired me to build one.

At any rate for the life of me I can only find the prong style T-nuts. So what I did was cut the sides off untill you end up with what looks like the one in the right-side photo. I drilled thru the riser and recessed the T-Nuts 4 in total. Then I covered them with a small yew lam. Its a process that takes planning, its the second one I made.
Number one rule >:D drill the holes in the limbs and riser dead center with perfect alignment the first time and the rest will follow. .. ;)

Thanks man!
What kind of screws did you use to attach the limbs to the riser after you installed the threaded inserts?
-
Very cool. :)

Looking good. :)

Interesting, I will be following this for sure

Screws are 5/16" x 2" use either or. The flat-heads are hard to find in my parts.
-
Nice takedown. The alignment must've been tough. Do you plan to make more limbs?
-
Thanks bushboy
Thanks DC
Thanks wizardgoat
You welcome Victor99
Thanks Idaho
Thanks Pappy,
Thanks Tree, I will make more soon.
-
Looks good man, for what it's worth i use the same tee nuts as that and drove them in with a socket and a hammer
-
Don`t mean to hijack the thread (and if I do, please tell me...) but I`m currently working
on a similar takedown, only my limbs are bamboo backed ipe. I was wondering if drilling through the
bamboo whould cause it to split when drawn. When I was a total noob, I tried to make limbs from a bamboo
piece and it split the second I drew the bow. I don`t know if it will do the same when the bamboo is glued as
a backing.
-
Arachnid if it was mein the area of the bolts i would sand it down and do an overlay like on a tip that should take care of it
-
Are you a mind reader Bubby? Thats what I thought of doing but wasn't sure if it'll work. Now I'll give it a go. Thanks a lot man.
-
Awesome looking build, I'd like to see some more pics of the process if possible!

I would sand the bamboo at the fad and glue on and overlay. Other wise, the limb bolt will only have contact with the very top of the crown of the back.

Here are a few more pics. Ignore that ugly black line on the riser, I have to re-do that. hiding some glue lines that I could not doctor up..... :-[
-
...a couple more
-
U should glue some felt to the surface of the riser where the limb sets.
