Title: A couple of new and refurbished hunting arrrows (AZ).

Cane shaft with desert "arrowweed" foreshaft the BH is hafted on with sinew and mesquite resin. BH is old sawmill scrap steel honed and stropped to scary sharp. Hopefully a second deer notch will be added to my Mulberry bow. Haven't posted in awhile but I lurk every now and again. Arizona coues WT. Very cool. How did you harvest and process the mesquite resin?

We have arrowweed in Cali we call it mulefat here. I have made arrows from it and they are pretty duriable but not so much as oak or other hardwood trees. Just curious why you used arrowweed for the foreshaft instead of something harder? I have been working on putting poplar foreshafts on my arrowweed arrows. Thanks for sharing those arrows look really good.

A friend of mine collects arrowweed along the Colorado River on the way back to California from AZ. Sal very definitely knows the difference between mulefat and arrowweed so I suspect there may be a different plant in there.

Yup Mulefat is somewhat hollow and very light in weight as compared to "arrow weed". Mulefat also tends to grow in Riparian areas and need alotta moisture. A good tip is smell the shaft or plant, it stinks like Horse piss. Funny because the bush in my Apache language is called just that "plant that smells of horse piss". Arrow weed is super dense (arid plant) likes to grow in sandy soils. I'll find them in huge stands. Bark is white/light grey and smooth.
