I quit selling bows because of the "have to" part of making them for folk, lots more fun to work on the "want to" basis.

The liability angle played into my decision as well, liability insurance is way too expensive for a hobbyist bow maker to carry. One customer mishap, an ambulance chasing lawyer and everything I worked for all my life could be gone.

I've been wondering about this. Does giving the bow away absolve you from liability? Are there any lawyers on here?

Nobody in my direct family gets one from me unless they haul their butt over to the shop and make it themselves, with my help and staves.

Good question. I'd like to know that myself.
