Post by: nclonghunter on August 03, 2014, 06:44:58 pm
Purchased some Keokuk from Eric Morris at the Schiele Museum yesterday. Knocked out a couple points today. Longer one is four inches.

Zumba, the Schiele Museum is in Gastonia NC. They have an Abo knap-in every year on a Saturday. Lots of wood billets and hammer stones breaking rock. First time I attended.

I wish I could say they are all Abo, but I haven't made that leap yet. Still trying to learn and understand why rock breaks like it does. Did see some guys at the museum using antler punches that got my interest. Looks to be an accurate or more precise method for finish work.

Thanks for all the comments, I feel like I have come a long ways this summer mainly due to all the help and direction I got at the Classic. Was worth every penny spent to make the trip.

Funny but I have had a few people ask me to show them how to work rock and I will gladly pass what knowledge I have as it has been passed to me...great group of people on this forum.

Nice points. I only went for one day (Saturday) and had a good time. the Schiele Museum is an excellent outdoor setting for a knap-in. Will go back again next year if I can. Rick B
