Title: elm queastion

I cut some early spring just after the leaves out. And some bout. A month later and the wood looks different !thought!

The one on the right was probably the first cut. It still has the cambium attached. Once the growing season was underway the bark and cambium came off together(on the left). You will have to carefully scrape the cambium off to get a clean back or leave some on for camo.

It's just oxidation the same way an apple turns brown on exposure to air.
