Title: Hiatus
Post by: Alpinbogen on July 06, 2014, 10:43:28 pm
I've been on a bowmaking hiatus (and archery in general) for quite a while, occupied with kayak builds and other interests.  Out of the blue today, I got the itch to start a new bow.  I pulled this stave from the cobwebs and have a pretty good start after a few hours this afternoon.  Just a little more work with a gooseneck scraper, and it will be ready to start tillering.  It felt good to sing a sharp drawknife through osage again.   :)

Good to see you back at it.

Speaking of kayaks, I was looking at some of your previous kayak posts recently and noticed a lot of the pictures are gone :(  I'm sure we'd all like to see some pictures of what you've been up to ;)

Yeah, Sorry, I wipe the photo slate clean pretty regularly.  This is from a few days ago on coastal Virginia, actually.

18.5' South Greenland replica (+/-) skin-on-frame kayak x 18.75" wide, 27#, in balance brace.
