Really like this black chert...
-
Looks to work very well! Nice killers there..
-
What stone are you working with there ? ' Frank
-
It's called Kanawha Black Chert and comes from the Kanawha River area of Charleston WVa.
I get it from Robert White, aka WV flint knapper. Lots of artifacts found in the area of WV are made from this rock. Quality varies from almost coal to hard glassy rock.

Those are some fine points there. At first I mistook them for Obsition. Glad you straightened me out. Is this Kanawha found along the I-64 corridor. Just saying

Thanks for the comments. That rock is a dull black, so I like to rub a little mineral oil into it. Gives it a little shine.
It is found along the 64 corridor, but you'll have to go up the bigger drainages to find any. I actually do not have a location yet, but my understanding is it can be found in about a 10-20 mile area around Charleston.
