Title: Not Quite Osage
Post by: PK on January 01, 2008, 11:30:11 pm
Hichory 35#@26 66" nok to nok.
I added yellow pigment to the shelac to imitate osage.
Silk Backing 2 layers with Color and design.
Strike Plate is albino horn, buckskin Grip.
First bow of the Year, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Not sure about the lines around the strike Plate, May remove them, or not?

tis a bit brighter yellow than i wanted I should have used the amber shelac with the tint, Its a water based tint so I have to be  careful not to put to nuch or it wont dry up fast enough and cause bubling.

Thanks for the Praise Peoples, Next I start working on the shorties for the littles. Big Brothers Big sisters auction this June or july.
Someone Exellent told me they are sending me a maple stave so I will be able to make a good stave bow, untill then it's Board bows.
Bought 1 Hickory board the day after christmas got 6 more bows to make out of it and it was only a whopping  $11 dollars, really nice Board got lucky twice last year, all the rest of the boards were not good to work with.

Went to the Beach today got to see how far the bow would shoot, Got over a 100 yards, with the wind and straight. The only problem is you can't see where the arrow went, well at least I finally got to see paradox in action.
