I've never seen one that big. I saw one on the AA trail on Ft Bragg yesterday evening. Just laying in the trail. Only about 18" or so.

As a teenager in Kentucky, I killed one while squirrel hunting that was 49" long.  That was the biggest specimen I have ever seen.  Most of the ones I see now are in the 16"~24" range.

What kind of snake is it? Up here we have Garter snakes, that's it and a big one is 16-18".

A nice copperhead and a big um for these parts. I like the way only the skin on he head was damaged. I cut the heads off and bury it deep then deal with the skinning.  Only thing worse than getten bitten by a snake is to get bit by a dead one.  ::)

Pretty when dead. Pretty fearsome when striking at your boots.

Nice one! I saw one yesterday in the downpour we had here. I would say it was pushing 30". I live in West Ky before I bought my farm a guy killed 42" on the main logging rd. I called BS on it then he went back and got it, it was a monster. About Sept,/Oct. this place will be crawling with them.

Well Pat, that may have been intentional by the guy that dispatched it.   ;)
