first let me introduce myself i am a new amateur bowyer I've only made a couple of bows so far but interested in making more. I' like say thanks to the administrators for allowing me to join. I am currently shaping a 72" long bow which will draw 45lbs @ 26". This is my second bow in my learning experience one of the limbs is showing a bit of limb twist and I was hoping that i could ask if there is a safe way to fix it? As i have said I am new to the craft but willing to listen and learn from the more experienced bowyers on this site. I have always wanted to learn to make real bows, so i looked for a book on the subject. somehow i found the traditional bowyers bible vol. 4 at the time i did not know it was a four volume set i was just lucky to find a book on making bows. it wasn't until i got home and started really paying attention that i noticed my dilemma. just thumbing through the book for the first time i found the instructions for a quick and easy bow or so i thought. I would appreciate any advice any one can give.

What kind of wood is it? If it's just a long bow with a little sometimes it's fine. And welcome to PA

It is an osage stave that i cut cut and let dry for for three years beautiful piece if you ask me

Dry heat works fine on osage.

First off, welcome aboard! Is the stave naturally twisted or straight and twisting as you draw it? What kind of longbow(rectangular cross section or more rounded like an English longbow)? Pics are always good and any other pertinent info will certainly help. Josh

from what i can see it is rala natural twist. Will that be more difficult to fix? pic are coming soon camera needs batteries lol. and thanks for your help everyone. like i said it is nice to get help from more experienced bowyers.

If it is naturally twisted then unbraced ull see it. If it twists when u draw it then one side of the limb is thicker than the other. Or your tips dowt line up with the handle.

thanks i just hope i don't screw it up out of the four staves this was the only one that was worthy of a bow.

If it's osage they're all worthy. Cut down the usable parts into billets. I spliced a pair in a pipe and pinned em and glued em. Still shooting.

Thanks for all the advice i am listening and learning. I don't really get a whole lot of time with five kids it is hard to work on it.

at the moment i barely have it to bow thickness but it seems that the tip of the limb is kinda twisting to the left of the handle
