Here's one I just finished for a friend I've been promising a bow for years now. Nothing fancy, but it turned out okay. It was a nice piece of Osage I've been saving -- very straight except for a little wave midway in the upper limb.
Here are the specs: 66" tip-to-tip, 58# at 28", 1 3/4" at the fades tapering evenly down to about 3/8" at the tips. I flipped the tips a bit, and added some purpleheart trim for the tips and strike-plate. The pic is me drawing it 26" with my stubby arms, but he'll draw it to 28". It shoots very nice, and I'm hoping it will bring my friend over from the dark side (compounds).

Sweet. Very nice Sir!
-
That should bring him over. Pretty bow, good looking tiller. I just finished up a plain one, also.
-
If that doesn't make him ditch the compound, there is no hope for him!
-
Good looking bow. He should like it.
-
Nice execution! Beautiful results!
-
My favorite - "plain Ol Osage. Nice work.

I love plain ol Osage. That rocks
-
Awesome
-
Holy moly, I swear I made this exact bow with a slightly different grip and pass from BL a couple weeks ago :o ???
Same profile, same bend, same recurves, same shape overlays, only a touch lighter and half an inch longer... I mean what the heck? I didn't even post it, how'd you do that?
I bet it's an awesome shooter ;D ;) Great work man!
-
Slick, looks like it will get the job done!
-
That's a great looking bow. When it comes right down to it, all things considered, that's the kind of bow that I would take hunting. That ought to do him good for years to come.
-
Looking good. Your buddy is sure to enjoy.
-
Shame on him if he doesn't favor that bow over his compound, that osage bow is just pure nice. Great work.
-
Nice work. Love it.
-
If that doesn't convert him, I don't know what would. He will probably fall in love with archery all over again once he gets his hands on it.
-
Great job. I like the lines of a simple bow like that
-
Very nice!
-
stickman, can I be your friend too? ;D ;D
We don`t have Osage around here so I`m always drooling on such nice Osage bows....
BTW, what is that framed thing titled "BOWMAKING" hanged on the wall in the 3rd picture? Do you have a bowmaking diploma ??? ;D ?
-
That's as clean and classy as it gets! Nicely done sir! Josh
-
Beautiful bow, don't get much better than that. Nice work. :)

Thanks for all the kind words, fellas. I keep hitting the same basic design, hoping to get it right. They're improving little by little.
Arachnid: That Bowmaking poster is an old-timey summary of bowmaking I found -- kind of a condensed TBB.
Huisme: Looks like we're on the same wavelength!
-
Nice one! I love the plain janes! Simple is beautiful!!! I bet your buddy loves it.
-
That design is hard to beat. Great looking bow, tiller is spot on.
-
Any chance you have that poster on PDF to share? ???
-
Well, that sure is osage but there ain't nothing "plain" about it...
Nice looking bow.
-
Absolutely awesome :)
-
Looks great. Nice smooth curves. That osage sure is pretty wood.
