Title: Hornstone on the Ohio
Post by: Zuma on April 23, 2014, 12:36:40 pm
I had a great time with a friend searching for these neat Hornstone relics.
I could have put this in Primitive skills as it is totally that as well as some awesome
abo knapping. Hornstone artifacts are new to me and so are the radical serrations.
I hope you all enjoy seeing this type knapping.

This is the most interesting to me.
These folks were serration masters.
Sure the material is a great one for making thin sharp points, but---

First one is a broken tip. Wow, what skill.

Blessed, Bo
Eric did good too.
This one is a cool knapping lesson. It was almost finished down one side.
But the other side was abandoned because of a crystal pocket.
The other side actually has the start of a notch as well as the serrations.
I find that very interesting.

PS need to get a better pic.

Awesome stuff along the Ohio River. Tons of Native American and earlier artifacts. I walked those fields for years and loved very minute of it.

Zuma, you found some nice stuff for sure. I wonder if that last pic was used as a skinning tool or small knife rather than an arrowhead.

Perhaps a skinner or tool but definatly abandoned as a Pinetree.
