-
how are we supposed to do a tree id with no tree?
-
lol one sec..and all i got is ring and bark pics...sorry
-
what it looks like.
-
no clue
-
whatever it is....i got 5 ...7-8' long 4-8" wide ..pipe straight staves.
-
Looks like Hickory, got any leaves brown or green doesn't matter or even some small twigs.

Almost looks like sweet gum but without better pics it is hard to say. Buds would really help to ID it as would a pic of a similar tree still standing.
-
i didnt cut...was in a burn pile at city dump...bark and rings all i got...thanks anyway
-
It does kind of look like sweet gum. If it is it will be stringy and hard to split.
Grady
-
split it and lay it up, if it makes a bow call it supprise wood ;D
-
im gonna have to start hitting up the rural burn piles for bow wood.
-
lol...ink...you have enough already. :o
-
Depending on where you live, it might be percimmon.
-
The blocks in the bark make me think persimmon but persimmon bark is usually not grey like that, more of a black color.
-
What do you call that knot you tied it in the trailer with??? ;) ;)
-
I'm guessing persimmon, if so it should be pretty heavy also.
-
Don, I think it is a hatchet knot. ;D
-
the i hope it holds knot..hasnt let me down in 30 yrs of landscaping....smarty pants gangstas!!
-
he got it from the brazos valley area in texas. there is lots of persimmon around here
-
If he got it from the Brazos valley area, then I'm almost 100% sure its a light colored percimmon
-
If you want to know if it's any good I could PM you my address ;D

-

The bark and wood both remind me of persimmon.

It's a poor craftsman that blames his tool >:D

Wish I could help with tree ID and the knot could be the best ever but I bet there really is 20' of rope tied up in that knot. No offense intended, all in good fun.

lol..yall are killin me. :o
-
I'm knot sure what kind of wood that is. It's knot something we have over here in Europe. Also, it is clearly knot free of knots either. But then again, with 7'-8' of length, knot all knots will end up in the staves. Since it was free wood, I would knot pass up this chance! Split it, seal ends and dry it.
-
lol thanks for the humor, i thought the bark looked familiar color threw me off
chuck

im really knot able to say much about all the knot knot jokes cause im all knotted up a bit....but i deserve em ...cause im quick to point at others that knot something up and poke fun...so im knot gonna say anymore ... cept noone seemed to get the Gordo reference..yall are slippin!!
