Title: Osage and sinew gull wing
Post by: kleinpm on March 11, 2014, 12:30:15 pm
I finished this bow about 2 months ago. 53.5 inches ntn along the curves, 58 lbs at 28" and a shade more than 55 lbs at my 27" draw length. There is one thin course of sinew under the rattlesnake skins. I found the skins, oddly enough, at a garage sale last year. The top limb has some natural reflex that I heated out and it reappeared after about a month, after I sinewed, so I just made it work as well as I could.

Built up leather arrow rest and a simple wrapped leather handle. I have shot about three hundred arrows through it and it is a pleasure to shoot with a surprisingly smooth draw. It took much longer than normal to find the best brace height/nock point/arrow combination.

I like it, tiller looks good for that difficult profile and thats cool that your getting that much draw length out of that shorty. Must of done your sinewing well and maybe that bow style handles stress well. Never really did one like this or ever sinewed a bow myself so I don't know. I like the bow though, great job on it.

Cool bow.

Parnell - No horses for me. Most of my neighbors have them. I have enough problems taking care of the human animals that live with me. :)

I appreciate all the comments guys.  I think this one has the right combination of being short, smooth, and powerful enough to be my elk hunter this year.

The most important thing for me when looking at a bow, is how it looks at full draw. Your bow it funky looking at brace, but the tiller at full draw is great.

I appreciate all the kind words. This bow is a lot of fun to shoot. My bows are slowly getting shorter and shorter, and I am liking them a lot.
