Title: Old Lemonwood Bows
Post by: Pat B on March 06, 2014, 03:13:24 pm
Jordan, here are the 2 old lemonwood bows I have. The ELB style bow was built by YORK Archery in the 1930s or 1940s and was used in schools and summer camps. The "horn" nocks are cast aluminum.
The flat bow was given to me by a co-worker years ago and he didn't know the history. It has "TRW  JUNE 43" hand written on the back above the handle. The handle glue line has broken loose but I haven't repaired it.
If anyone else has an old lemonwood bow(s), feel free to post them here too.

Well, Photobucket is screwing with me again. Once it decides to play fair I'll post some pics.

I have a couple of old lemonwood bows that are similar to Pats.  I think one of them was made by Indian Archery.

I hear that womenwood bows are often highly recurved and and have lot's of character.  Older womenwood bows have often taken a good bit of sit and are a bit slower than the newer ones, ...but they are likley to snap on you at any given moment, so have a care when handling the older ones.

Oh and BTW - never try to share your womenwood bows with other archers, ...it just never seems to work out well!
