i had this branch for about a year, had a bad check(about an 1/8'' wide, 5"long) through the back of the handle. wrapped it with sinew and it came out around 35 at 28" too light for me so i threw it in the corner. it sat there for almost 2 years had a crap ton of reflex in the upper limb and i coundnt even string it up. so i heated most of the reflex out, to a manageable 2".
sinew wrap on the handle didnt feel like enough. so i also wrapped with wet rawhide and it seems to be holding up quite well.
had a good part in the weather but the rain came back, had to take an indoor F/D shot
i was very impressed with this wood. i feel confident in calling it "Prince of Bow Wood"
holds a good 1" reflex

I like that bend Bryce. Nice job.
-
Very nice!
-
That is sweet Bryce.
So did it gain the weight from drying time?
-
Another beauty ,Bryce! Does the extended pinkey a shooting aid of sorts? ;D People tease me about it , so I though I might get one in before someone else ;)
Am I reading this right? 2 years ago this bow was 35# and now it's 60# after removing some of the reflex ? Did you Pike it? ........................You do know that witchcraft is still frowned upon in most cultures and the perveyors are often persecuted even in our progressive times ;D ;D ;D. .....If that's what you're up to out there, don't answer. Too good a bowyer to be burned at the stake!
-
Nice bend on a fine looking bow. Great job!
-
Thanks guys!:)
From what I can tell, the bark was holding some moisture in. And even after a year of drying it just wasn't dry. But after sitting for another couple yrs. the stave was allowed to completely dry, and even get a little reflex.
-
Wow man, that's pretty cool. I have some saplings with bark on from the fall. I guess I better give them a long time to dry up ;D
-
That is a very nice bow.It turned out great. God Bless
-
Yes Sir!
That's a Beauty!

-
Love that style of bow and this one is super sharp, nicely done Bryce. 8)
-
That bow is AWESOME! Nice job. I especially like the bark left on...that is what it is...right?
-
Another nice one Bryce! I love the look of bark on plumb bows. Your quill work turned out great as well, not to mention the perfect tiller! Way to go man :)
-
Great job Bryce. You sure know how to make em. This one is one of my faves. Love it. Have you heard of Patawatomi plum?
-
Nice bow Bryce! I love the pinkey!! You practicing to have tea with the Queen? ;D
Told you it was coming ,buddy ::) ;D ;D

wow! i dont even know where to start! thank you all for the kind words! :D
thanks for the heads up lostarrow lol the ring finger is also out yah just cant see it at that angle.
my 3 finger grip needs a bit of work.
i had plans to flip the tips which is why the bark is off on the ends.
the bow is a bit too heavy for me and my winter-out-of-shape-body, seems to happen this time of year. but come summer time when the stump killing reaches a maximum it wont be as squirrely to handle.
WHEN IN DOUBT, PINKY OUT!
-
Not too shabby there Brycey boy ;)
-
Beautiful bow,very nice tiller. :)
Pappy
-
Nice ( on that one sir...
-
Finished off nicely Brycey!
-
Good lookin bow there
-
Thank blacky
Thank you pappy. I'm diggin te deep purple of the bark.
Thanks pearls. Thought you might like seeing it, not over text MSG.
Thank you don.
Thank you Ohma.
It's nice to just make a plain jane bow, and get back to basics.
-
Ill take it....;)
-
That tiller is really nice, Bryce. Looks like a great bow. I won't hassle you on the pinky, actually, I often wonder why people hold bows with an obviously hard up GI Joe kung-fu grip when it is a bend through the handle design. Never quite understood that.... ;D
-
Not sure....I get better groups with a loose grip.
-
Not sure....I get better groups with a loose grip.
its just like boxing, your much faster with your hands loose and relaxed

Your probably right man.
I think it also allows the bow to not jar in the hand and eff up arrow flight.
-
nice work Bryce.
-
Wow...wow!!!
-
Dang brosef that's real nice, from 35 to 60! I wish mine did that...I knew you had some kind of bow magic
-
Impressive, Bryce - very impressive
Very nice looking bow
I have used the bark on several plum bows but mostly it popped off after some shooting. I found only one species under the plums that makes no problems with bark on.
-
Beauty for sure! My bark usually come off just the opposite - bark on tips but cracks off the bendy part.
-
beautiful job Bryce...just...wow!!
-
That turned out sweet Bryce!
-
Thanks seabass
Thanks soy
Thanks Simson, I have shot this bow a couple hundred times te bark seems to be holding good. Purple leaf has a pretty elastic and hold strong. Any stave over 3" in diameter the bark is too rough and thick to wanna stay on.
Thanks Randman, the bark didn't pop off. I took it off with the draw knife bc I had plans to flip the tips a bit the. Decided not to.
Thanks 4dog
Thanks missile master .
-
Sweet simplicity!
Love the bend and the bark...and ;)
-
Thanks DBB:)
-
Man! You've been busy! That tiller is just beautiful! When I grow up, I wanna be just like you pinecone! Lol! Seriously though, that is top notch! Josh
-
Very pretty bow Sir!

A guy gets busy for a week or so and he misses something like this!!!
Totally awesome bow Bryce. Isn't purple leaf addicting stuff? Finest bow wood I've laid my hands on. And you did it justice right there.
How wide are the inner limbs? I bet you could have even gone a bit narrower without bringing on set.
I really like how the handle leather and the back look together. And the tiller is on the money. Great stuff.
Gabe
-
That's weird bc I wanna grow up like josh!
Thanks one bow!
Oh man Gabe this wood is saweeeet! Inner limb is about 1.5"
I was really amazed at the lack of set.
-
Great work, impressive bow
-
You know, I don't think I want to harass a guy about pinky placement with a bow like that in hand and a broadhead handy! I think I'd just politely say that's one beautiful bow right there!
BTW, how did you feather the transitions from the bark at the edges? Any special care or finish work required? I really like the bark!
-
excellent bow nice to see different wood used for us that can not get osage easy, love the bark on it
-
Thanks falcon!
Lol thanks paleoguy! That there pinky is my stabilizer ;D >:D
Thanks Jim. That plum is some pretty tough stuff.
