From the movie Ferris Buehler's Day Off.  The teacher keeps calling Beuhler's name for roll call and he does not answer. 

It was another way of bringing the subject to the top since no one was answering the roll call.

On the other hand, it is nice that we don't have a crowd of folks screaming about getting stiffed on the exchange.
