What Type of pen works best for writing draw length and weight on a bow?
-
A calligraphy pen with a thin nib and indian ink. Somebody on here (sorry can't remeber who?) put me onto this when Iasked the same question as you've just asked. I use nothing else now. You can get any colour and different nibs for the pen for different writing styles. It looks so much better than marker type pens and you don't have to worry about finsh/ink compatability too much. If you do have problems use a thin superglue to seal the inked area.

It depends on what finish is going over it. I know you can't use a Sharpie and then put shellac over it >:( >:(

I take a wood burner with a fine tip and do it. The fine tip hardly creates a divot and the little it does I just put a little beeswax in but you could use superglue if it worked with your finish better. I use beeswax because I use beeswax and linseed oil for my finish so it matches perfectly.

I started using a calligraphy pen and India ink a few years ago and still use it now. I make my own pens with feather quills, thin bamboo also. Google "quill pen" and it will show you how to make one.
I used to use Sharpie pens but the ink is not compatible with some finishes and it fades over time.

I use Koh-I Noor rapidogragh pens. They are hollow steel nibed pens and are refillable. They come in all diferent sizes ranging from dust spec to sharpie. A bit expensive, but well worth it. I fill them with india ink.
