Title: Twisty buckthorn bow
Post by: TacticalFate on November 24, 2013, 11:18:22 pm
59" NTN Heat treated European buckthorn, 55# @ 26", full 90 degree twist from end to end, buckthorn overlays (was scared of splitting due to side nocks), and cherry bark handle wrap. Started this bow in the spring, and just got around to finishing it off. Took 3 inches of set initially when I tillered it in the summer, prob was way too humid, heat treated and ended up with 1 inch of set.  Bottom limb looks wonky in full draw, but that's just due to the twist.

That's the most twist I've ever seen in a finished bow. Nice!

The twist looks to mostly disappear at full draw and the tiller doesn't look bad at all to my eyes. Nice work on that difficult stave and I like the primitive look of the bow too.

Cool bow with nice bend. Did you fill the knot holes on the belly with anything?

Nope, they were in the last 6 inches, so they were unbending anyway.

Lotta twist in that one...congrats on getting it to shoot...how's it shoot? Any shock noise or vibrations?
