hahaha bubbly, why didnt i think of that sooner.
-
That looks real nice bub, got your usual smooth bend and dressed to kill as well. That baby has to be a real shooter from the looks of it. Hard to see the birch bark in the pic., must be the glare from that cal. sunlight messing with the camera image. Just glued some birch bark on the back of one myself a few days ago. I'm liking your bow much better
than the one I'm working though.
-
thank's guys, i'll try and get some better pics the batteries were low on the camera and it's actually supposed to rain tonight so I kinda rushed them
-
Great lookin bow bubby! Way to take care of your pta.
-
Really nice. Interesting profile, looks like a cross between a pyramid and a molly.
-
Nice one Bub, Love the skins.
Jon
-
You better tell Kyle when ya give it to him that he needs to take that dancing in the woods ;D looks like its made to hunt ;)
-
Niiiice!
-
Dang Bubby, that thing is sweet!! Is the birch bark wrapped on 3 sides of the levers?
-
That is one sweet bow Bub.
-
Another beauty ,Bubby! You look different some how. What's different?
-
That looks great Bub. I am getting ready to try a similar bow of hickory. I only hope it turns out half as nice as that beauty.
-
Wow! That is one outstanding bow. I'm sure he will be thrilled with it. What kind of rattler are those skins? I like the pattern.
-
Thanks everyone, yeah the bbark wraps around three sides of the levers, and it is a hybrid pyramid/molly, I can get the layout for ya tues, Clint those are western diamondbacks from out at my sons place, I think the only thing different about me is the long pants, it is finally starting to turn cool out here
-
Dude that's an awesome bow! Love it! I really like colors and finish work.
-
Blackhawk I've built maybe five mollys and they all drive an arrow but this modified design is flat out fast, Greg I got the bbark idea from you, but I like your bow with it better, I did slightly recurve the tips and it was more apparent before I put on the bark
-
Very nice bow, bubby. I've not made a Mollie yet but I can see one in my future.
-
Looks real good bub !!!
-
Awesome bow. Love everything about that one. ;)
-
Nice bow.
One thing you could do with it is not to have such as a big thickness transistion out to the levers. You only need a fraction of increase in thickness because you haven't made a step in the width reduction. If you think about it you only need a section of a working limb to be 1/16th or a 1/32nd thicker to see a stiff spot.
I've played around with these sort of bows quite a bit and it always surprises me just how little extra thickness you need to keep the levers 'static'.
-
Good looking bow, very nice work. :)
Pappy
-
Beautiful craftsmanship, really nice.
-
Sweet. Nicely dressed and she looks fast.
-
Very nice. I love mollys.
-
very nice bow bubby, sweet bark job.
-
One fantastic looking bow! I wish I could shoot all the bows I see on here!!
-
hopefully these are better pics of the birch bark, I think I could have sanded the bark thinner but it's my first time working with it and I liked the way it looked, the levers were actually much more slender looking befor I added the bark(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/neck%20knife/mollybow/101_4395_zpsabd7b25e.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/neck%20knife/mollybow/101_4395_zpsabd7b25e.jpg.html)

in order to wrap it like I did I cut some strips of the bark, wrapped it in a wet towel and put it in the microwave for two min., turned it to rubber, then I cut it close to the shape of the levers and glued and wrapped it with tubes
-
coolio. finally started raining over there too huh
-
Very nice Bub! The tillers sweet and the birch bark is nicely done touch of class! I'm not usually a conissuer of snake skins, but those coon tails are quite unique. I've never seen em quite like that before. Josh
-
josh if ya hang around my neck of the woods you'll see lots of them coon tails
-
that's a good one right there. nice job Bub. I like the birchbark
-
thank's paul
-
Nice work wrapping that bark around the edges bub, like the color of that birch also. Use of the microwave is a cool trick too, never would have thought of that.
-
Yeah Greg the microwave works great for bending whatever you can fit in it, I know someone on here has one with a whole in both ends and puts bows in there and stuffs the holes with rags
-
NICE! :)
-
o.k. the layout was 2" at the fades, straight taper to 1" 12" from the tips the fades are 2" long then straight taper to 3/8" tips, this gives a 12" lever, and the grip is built up both sides with cork
-
just an update, gave Ryan the bow today, I love it when you hand them their bow and they are speechless, that may be the best part about giving one away, just got to set up a time to show him how to shoot a wood bow now all he's shot before was a glass bow like most of us had as kids
-
I think I know just how he feels bubbly!
-
Sweet tiller, looks perfect for that style bow. Always love seeing birch bark incorporated into bows. Nice work.

That is one of the very best things about building bows! AWESOME!
-
Nice. I think from looking at it, it looks like a semi pyramid molly. I'm feeling a molly in my future. I think I like the looks of this style a little more than the standard paralel working limb. Most of my bows have more of a pyramid look to em anyway. Just never really took to paralel limbs for some reason. Danny
