Title: I hope you all are having a better night than I am
Post by: Josh B on November 14, 2013, 09:51:10 pm
I am standing on top of a huge sand hill in Western Nebraska over two miles from my truck so I could get enough service to call a wrecker.  A mule deer ran into the side of my truck and broke off the diesel exhaust fluid injector line and crippled my truck.  So while I wait for the wrecker to come drag me to north Platte Ne, I thought I'd share my good times with you all.  Enjoy your evening.  Josh

That sucks Josh. father-in-law had the same thing happen with his f350. only he watched as the dumb thing actually charged his truck. evidently the state troopers say they dont like headlights at night.

Not the way you wanna collect your venison is it Josh. You'd think the big rigs would be immune to that kind of damage from a critter collision. I tried to get one to collide with one of my arrows this evening but the deer had
others ideas. Hope your tomorrow is better friend.

Some of that country out there is the backside of B.F. Egypt.  Glad you were able to scrape up some cell service.  Any chance your insurance can collect against the deer's insurance company?  Problem is, most deer nowadays are on the hiways without any insurance.

"I'm a buck in rut and the moon is out.  Cars. Trucks. Whatever.  I have no sense, but I have horns and testicles. If you bought cut-rate insurance you'd be eating this bill and maybe some badly road rashed venison. Get Buckstate Insurance and avoid mayhem like me!"

Sorry to hear about your troubles Josh. If you decide  to have a cold one while in North Platte stop by the House Bar out on east HWY 30 and tell Gilbert and Mary hello for me. Tell them that I'm buying you a beer and just put it on my tab

Thanks fellas.  Wrecker showed up and I'm on my way to no. Platte.  Yep Country, this is my go-home run.  BTW....that big hill I climbed...it was in the middle of a bull pasture.   Four big ole charlois bulls took offense at my presence!  I'm tired!  My legs hurt and my lungs are burnt.  But I cleared the fence and with enough clearance to keep my fellas attached.  So it definitely could of been worse.  Josh

Lol! Well Eddie...tow bill-$2049, repair bill (parts and labor) $492.91, the load I missed-$350, and some other miscellaneous expenditures related to this whoops(jeans, bandages and wear and tear on my person)  I could have easily bought a good used jeep for what this doe did.  She didn't scuff the paint or crack the fairing.  Virtually no body damage to my truck, but that one line ended up costing this much before it was all said and done.   I remember reading not to long ago in Bubbys thread about lead shot that people from California resented being viewed in a negative light by the rest of the country.  I understand that has to be frustrating, but this is another example of California legislation force fed to the rest of the country.  That line that broke was the result of Calif CARB regs that eventually turned federal mandate.  I don't hold all the people in Calif responsible, but I do resent the hell out of the ridiculous regulations that start there and are ultimately mandated for everybody else.  These emission regs are costing everyone, not just the transportation industry.  Sorry for the rant, but I'm sick of it.  This crap has raised operating costs by 25% reduced efficiency by at least that much and the worst part is that its only cleaner on paper.  Its a profane joke that everyone suffers for.  Since I can't do anything about the vulnerabilities mandated on my truck, all I can do is hope the hunting public has a super successful season.  Good hunting folks!  At least for as long as you can still do that before its outlawed or regulated to death.  Sorry, stepping of the soapbox now.  Once again, no hard feeling to Californians, only towards your legislative bodies.  Josh

amen to all you said Josh, if I was still contracting these regs would have put me out of business anyway, why do you think there is such a push for the state of Jefferson, we are tired of being over regulated and basically being bulled by the liberal masses, I better stop before this gets pulled, bub

I so agree, I work for one of the engine manufacturers and those same regs are poinlessly drinving up costs that will be passed right along to folks like Josh.
