Hey All!
Here are some almost-primitive arrows I've made.
Let me know what you think. Constructive criticism
AND praise are gratefully accepted!
Stats:
30"
Japanese arrow bamboo shafts
Black Locust foreshafts
Circular saw blade trade points
Self nocks
Reinforced with dog treat horse sinew
and cotton thread coated in super glue
Points hafted with Birch tar
Just waiting for it to get a little colder so
the wild pigs will come down the mountain.

Fine looking arrows how do the fly.

Very nicely done.

Those look great. Love the cock feather indicator on the nock. Very clever. I might have to borrow that one ;D

@Trapper
They fly well enough, I suppose. My aim
could use some work I'm sure.
@Guy
Thx!
@IdahoMatt
Yeah, I thought "there are 3 feathers to be
mixed up on, while the nock only has 2
possible configurations." Makes sense, right?
I even thought of putting a little raised bump
on it so I can do it by feel.

Nicely done!
How crazy are the regulations for bow hunting over there?
-
Actually there are no bowhunting regulations here.
There is no shortage of wild pigs and deer though.
Last year this time the cops had to come and shoot
a couple wild pigs because they were cruising through
my neighborhood scaring people at night. I can lay in
bed at night and hear them rooting around in the
woods next to my house.

Awesome!
Well, stinks for the neighborhood but great for you!

Very nice job!!! The one at the bottom is pretty cool looking, but wouldn't be legal here. We cannot use barbed arrows, the wing of the blade has to be square to the shaft or slightly obtuse. All the same I really like your work. What kind of deer do you have?

Hey Robby!
Thanks for the compliment. The one on the bottom was
my first design, but I'm finding that I like the other
"Cahokia" inspired ones more.
While visiting a friend after work last night, a HUGE boar
inoshishi was munching acorns not 3 meters from my
house. My daughter heard it chomping and looked out
the window to see a beast! Looks like these arrows
may get some use tonight! (fingers crossed)
As for the local deer, check this out:
