I have been wanting to do this bow for awhile so now is the time to nut up and do it. I have some sassafras that I will experiment with at first. I would love to hear from some of you guys that have made this style bow. I have done various sinew backed bows but the N. Cali style is whispering to me right now. 45" long and 3" at the widest part of the limb.

Go for it, I've got a short piece of yew waiting for me to do the same. Loking forward to seeing it.

I also want to do one these paddle bows someday (molly too). I will watching with great interest. Good luck.

That's kinda funny Rich. My Dad was a Vietnam Vet who saw quite a lot of fighting. I remember as a kid he would always act sorta weird when a chopper flew over. ;D

The wood was a little from being dry so I put some setback in the handle while it's drying inside. I also chased it down to a good ring before clamping it down. After a couple weeks or a month, I will reflex the limbs and do a little heat treating. Time to process some sinew. :'(

Looking forward to this one Jon. I've been wanting to try one of these guys for a while myself.

Looks like a nice layout.

Go for it man. I'm really curious to see how a Sass/sinew combo will turn out. Keep us posted!

Looks good, I'll be interested to see what sassafrass does, never seen/worked it.
