Well I finally took my primitive bow out deer hunting. I was a little unsure because it is 43# at 27 inches but Pearly assured me I could get the job done. I am used to being able to shoot 20 yards with a compound so I had to set up my stands for 10 yard shots. First time out the deer comes in early morning and I don't have an arrow ready. I was still kicking myself for missing that opportunity and it came back at 8 yards. I had to grunt to get it to stop. It was still a little dark when I shot but it acted as if it were hit. I waited an hour and got down and followed an easy blood trail to the deer. I found the arrow about 20 yards from the first blood and it was covered in blood from tip to nock. I think it may be the smallest deer I have shot but it will be one of my most memorable.

Congrats Ryan!
That's a beautiful deer!
You've now done something few living archers have, the first deer I killed with a selfbow, was a small doe also and for me it was a very memorable point in my hunting life.
Congrats again!

Huh?!?! How did I miss this posting?
Anyway, belated congratulations there, Ryan! EVERYONE knows it is harder to hit smaller targets, so this one's difficulty level puts you in the Master category! Like Ed said, this one puts you on the board and takes the pressure off now that you know you can do it!
