I've heard some pretty controversial things about Black walnut, and since This is my second bow I wanted to get some more experienced opinions. This stave is 63" long and 1 1/2" wide. With a bendy handle I'm hoping for 45#@28" I'm going to line the tips up tomorrow and I thought it might be a good idea to heat it into a couple inches of reflex. What do you guys think?

If it was a roughed out bow it'd be easier to bend and straighten
-
Yes it's roughed out. What do you mean bend and straighten?
edit: never mind, maybe I need my eyes checked :)

Mike, looks pretty straight and should work out fine for the specs you're looking for. It's a wood I like working with.

I just want to point out a safety factor with BW the dust is toxic to the lungs..! >:D

U said u were gonna line up the tips and bend some reflex in I thought? That's the roughed out shape of your bow? I thought it was the stave

The tree I cut was only 2" thick, so I just thinned the limbs down so it would dry faster. I haven't tapered the tips yet. I can get some better pictures up later. I misunderstood your post yesterday. I'm sorry about that.

It's ok. I was gonna say if that was your roughed out bow your tips are kinda big lol

I didn't get to work on it today, maybe tomorrow.
